Hepatitis C (HCV) remains a significant public health challenge worldwide with more than 1.3 million deaths annually. Many advancements made in the last decade such Direct Acting Antivirals (DAAs) have significantly increased cure rates . However, many underrepresented groups are highly affected by HCV such as persons who inject drugs (PWID), incarcerated individuals, and marginalized ethnic groups. Lack of awareness and low treatment and screening rates are just a few of the challenges that slow progress in eliminating hepatitis C. The World Health Organization (WHO) has a goal of worldwide HCV elimination by 2030. The United States has made efforts to lower transmission rates, however it needs to overcome certain challenges such as low rates of screening and lack of funding and awareness to eliminate Hepatitis C.
