The lack of consistent government policies and guidelines surrounding sexual health education has a significant impact on today’s youth. Poor sexual health education can lead to higher rates of unintended pregnancy, STI’s, and sexual violence. Many essential topics, such as gender-inclusive language and appropriate communication strategies, are left out of sex education. Curricula that promote inclusivity, specifically regarding LGBTQ+ sexual health topics, leaves students with a more positive and accepting attitude and promotes positive behavior change in sexual situations. Implementing an evidence-based, comprehensive online sexual health education curriculum that transcends politics and boundaries will help bridge the gap in students’ knowledge by promoting inclusivity, accuracy, and accessibility.
