Peptide/Nanoparticle Generation for Effective Ester Hydrolysis Reactions
Location: 38
Mentor: Dr. Marc Knecht
Nanoparticle research is at the forefront of science, as generation of nanoparticles with catalytic properties can be used to increase the efficiency of a variety of biochemical pathways. This project was focused on generating highly effective nanoparticles combined with peptide-based ligands that are capable of conducting ester hydrolysis reactions. Nanoparticles made of a different ratio of gold to silver were generated and the most effective nanoparticle with a specific ratio was found. The ratio of 2:8 for Ag:Au was found to be the most effective, with the fastest rate of reaction.
