EXPLORING THE INTERSECTION OF MENTAL HEALTH POLICIES & CULTURAL INFLUENCES IN CHINA
Location: 91
This study explores how traditional Chinese cultural values and the forces of modernization and globalization influence mental health policy and treatment in China. By analyzing literature and health data, we assess the role of Confucianism, collectivism, and social stigma in shaping public attitudes and state responses. The findings reveal that while international collaboration and policy reforms have improved mental health infrastructure, persistent cultural stigma remains a barrier to access and effective care. The study proposes a framework of culturally responsive policy development to improve mental health outcomes in China and comparable contexts.
